Christmas Recycling Promotion
This page shows work I did for promoting Walsall Council's Christmas Recycling Campaign in December 2023.
I went to Brownhills Depo with a colleague and photographed several of the vehicles there including bin lorries gritters and lawn mowers, as well as bins.
In addition, my colleague filmed an interview with a member of staff, which said about what to recycle over Christmas, amongst other things.
I then created a few videos with subtitles from the footage using Premiere Pro. These would be used as reels on social media.
One of the reel was later used as part of an article on Inside Walsall promoting Chrismas Recycling.
Photographs
I was tasked with to taking images of Walsall Council’s recycling depo in Brownhills. This would be a part of promoting the Christmas Recycling and Gritting campaigns which would be promoted on social media.
I took images of the different vehicles that are used (including the bin lorries, gritting lorries and tractors). I took several images of each one we were shown (these maybe used by my team in the future for other social media posts e.g gritting announcements).
In addition, I was asked for a favour if I could take photographs of some bins in a line for the depo’s IT department. These would be used to show the different types of bins used. Three bins were put in a line, and I was show where the best place was to stand, so I could get their corners as well (showing their size / width). After that another three were lined up and I went through the same process.
Christmas Recycling Reels
Also as part of this project, I was asked if I could edited and create reels from the footage my colleague had filmed during the trip to the depo. These reels would be used on Instagram promoting the council's Christmas Recycling Campaign.
I used Premiere Pro to create 5 reels. I added captions to the reels, which showed what was being said during the video - listened to what was being said, then typed a few words for every few seconds of the video's timeline. All videos were designed within the council's branding - purple captions, white text box, Arial font and a council ending slide.
A link to one of the reels was featured in an article on the council's internal website, 'Inside Walsall' (see link).
