HAF Videos & Posters

This page showcases the posters & videos I have created examples for Walsall Council's HAF (Holiday Activity & Food) Programme team.

I have used Canva to create colour, eye-catching content that appeals to children, young people and parents. In addition, with to the fast-pace character of the job, Canva has been essential for me to create attention-grabbing and professional looking content in a short amount of time.

HAF Videos

I was tasked with creating a compilation video for HAF upcoming Taster ay event. It would be shown on a screen and be run throughout the event. I needed to put together several images taken at the past HAF Programme clubs and put them together, along with an opening and closing slide.

I downloaded several images and pieces of footage, then created a blank Canva template. I then selected the best downloads and put them in a random order to show the variety of HAF's different events, etc. In addition, I used a variety of transitions to make the video more eye-catching and attention grabbing.

In addition, I added the opening and closing slide. For this I used a yellow background and purple text (to go with HAF's branding). I also added HAF's logo, plus #HAF2024, as that had been used on several HAF posts on social media.

I did not add music as music would be used at the even, so this would be a silent slideshow.

During trips to Job Fayre in which my team had a stalls (to help register children & young people onto the programme, plus provide information), I was asked to take some images or footage to put on social media to promote Walsall HAF.

I used the opportunity to film with my iPhone. I filmed up from the floor, then towards the table (showing the HAF table cloth), then onto the HAF merchandise (e.g pens, badges and flyers), and sometimes shots outside the building to set the scene

I would upload the short pieces of film onto my computer, then set up a new Canva project. I uploaded the footage onto the Canva project. From here I watched the unedited film - I needed to remove the sound, so I muted the video. I then went to a royalty free music website (Bensound.com) and downloaded an appropriate piece of music, which I also uploaded onto Canva. I added this to each video and added transitions to both the music (to fade in and out) and also the footage (to fade from white and out to). Once I was happy, I downloaded the project and saved it to my computer.

I would then set up a post on social media (WR4C's Facebook page), writing up a brief description with #HAF2024 to promote the programme. I added the videos to the posts and uploaded them to the Facebook page.

HAF Posters

I was tasked with creating colourful bright posters to advertisement events run by the HAF team. All of these were created on Canva, which I was very experienced with using. I used a yellow background and purple for the main title to go with the HAF branding colour. In addition, I used the HAF logo, plus the Walsall Council and various other logos to make it look more official - I needed to appeal to families (children & young people), yet also fit within the corporate guidelines / appearance.

The SEND Coffee Morning was uploaded onto Facebook by myself with some text describing the event.

The HAF Taster Fun Day Poster was used as part of a PowerPoint presentation by my team in an important meeting with HAF Programme providers, to ask if they wanted to attend and set up a workshop at the event.

Social Media graphics

These are graphics I have created for social media posts on Facebook and Twitter for updates and other information on HAF. They were created on Canva and featured images that best represented the HAF programme.

In addition, I type up several words on each update - so it is my own word, both the design and social media post.
